Is there a daily limit on driven kilometers/miles?

All our vehicles/rental agreements have unlimited kilometers/miles. There is no limit on how many kilometers/miles can be driven per day and therefore no extra charge for distance driven.

Is there any unexpected cost like tax/vat to be added to the price given?

There is no hidden cost, tax/vat is included in the price given. Price depends on the amount of days selected, type of vehicle & extras selected. Extra cost will be generated due to damage to the vehicle or it´s equipment, traffic violations, parking tickets etc.

Can I edit or cancel a reservation?

Yes you can. Editing is limited to availability at that time. Prepaid bookings are fully refundable if cancelled 48 hours or more prior to scheduled rental day begins. After that time no refunds will be made for cancellations.

How old do I have to be to rent a car?

The minimum age is 21 years old.

What documents do I need to present when I rent a car?

A valid driving license issued by country of residence that you have held for one year or more.
Note: International driving licence is valid only when accompanied with your normal driving license.
Your passport is required as per Icelandic laws for car rentals.
A valid credit card.

What kind of insurance is included and/or offered?

Included in the basic rental fee is mandatory insurance as per Icelandic law at any given time, i.e. third party liability insurance along with accident insurance for the driver and the owner.

Optional insurances are: Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) which is included for free but can be waived if requested, Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW), Sand and Ash Protection (SAAP), Gravel Protection (GP) and Theft Protection (TP).

How do we arrange a vehicle delivery & return?

During booking you select the locations along with date and time. Correctly filling in name, date, time, arrival flight number and contact information such as phone number is important and speeds up the delivery process. An agent from Irent (clearly marked with the company´s logo) representing a board with your name on it will meet you at the meeting point (ORANGE MEETING POINT SIGN in the ceiling to the left of the arrival hall).

When will the rental contract become active?

The rental contract becomes active when you sign the contract at our Office.

Can I pay with cash, debit card ?

Yes, you can pay with credit card, debit card or cash, but we always need a valid credit card from the lessee for security and insurance reasons.

Does it matter which credit card I bring?

We will always need the lessee’s ( driver’s ) credit card on file for insurance purpose.

What is the minimum rental period?

The minimum rental time/charge is a 2 day rental. Returning early or anytime within the scheduled rental period is accepted.

Is it possible to add a third driver?

Yes, you can add up to two additional drivers.
